Diving Courses

SSI-certified training in Zeeland

Open Water Diver

The Open Water Diver course is the most widely recognised beginner course in the world. For many divers, this was the start of their diving career. After completion you hold an internationally recognised certificate, allowing you to dive independently (always with a buddy) to a maximum of 18 metres — worldwide.

We work with small groups of maximum 2 students per instructor, so you receive personal attention and can learn at your own pace. Use of a full set of diving equipment, including a dive computer, is included. Tip: combine the course with extra dives or your first specialty certification. Ask about the options!

1
Theory (online)

Via the SSI app, at your own pace at home. Clear explanation of diving technique, safety and theory.

2
Pool sessions

Practising basic skills in a controlled environment: breathing, buoyancy, clearing your mask, regulator recovery, emergency procedures and more.

3
4 open water dives

Four open water dives in the Grevelingenmeer at our regular location near Den Osse, under the guidance of your instructor.

Advanced Open Water Diver

Want to take the next step as a certified diver? Ready to dive with different equipment, at greater depths or in more challenging conditions? The AOWD course deepens your knowledge and expands your possibilities. You complete five dives, each a specialty dive with a different theme. After completing the course you may dive to 30 metres depth.

Two dives are compulsory: navigation and deep diving. You choose the remaining three yourself — for example Perfect Buoyancy, Nitrox and Night Diving. We're happy to discuss the options and your interests. Tip: extend the course with one or more full specialties for extra knowledge, depth and training.

1
Theory (online)

For each adventure dive you read the relevant theory via the SSI app, at your own pace.

2
Five specialty dives

Navigation and deep diving are compulsory. We choose the other three together based on our programme.

3
Certificate to 30 metres

After completion you can dive independently (always with a buddy) to 30 metres depth, recognised worldwide.

Rescue Diver course

Rescue Diver

The Rescue Diver course (at SSI: Diver Stress & Rescue) teaches you how to recognise, prevent and effectively handle diving emergencies. One of the most valuable courses a diver can take — even if you never get into trouble yourself.

You learn self-rescue, assisting other divers and how to act calmly and systematically under pressure. Prerequisites: Open Water Diver certificate and a valid first aid certificate (including Basic Life Support and oxygen administration). Combine this course directly with the SSI React Right course and receive both certificates at once.

1
Theory (online)

Learn about emergency scenarios, rescue techniques and the psychology of diving incidents via the SSI app.

2
Practical exercises

Practising self-rescue and assistance to other divers, both at the surface and underwater.

3
Emergency scenarios

Simulating realistic situations so you can act trained and confident in a real emergency.

Specialty Courses

Each specialty expands your knowledge and skills in a specific area. In many cases they can be combined with the Open Water Diver or AOWD course. Every specialty you complete counts towards the Master Diver recognition certificate.

Nitrox Dive longer at the same depth with oxygen-enriched breathing gas.
Perfect Buoyancy Optimise your trim and buoyancy for a more efficient dive.
Navigation Navigate independently underwater using a compass and natural reference points.
Deep Diving Dive safely to 40 metres with knowledge of risks and techniques.
Boat Diving Learn everything about diving from a boat: entry, safety and planning.
Dry Suit Diving Dive comfortably in cold water with proper use of a dry suit.
Night Diving Discover the underwater world after sunset with a torch and lights.
Drift Diving Dive safely in currents and master drift techniques.
Computer Diving Get more from your dive computer and understand the data it provides.
Ecology Specialties Learn more about the ecosystems and species you encounter underwater.
Blue Oceans Awareness of the impact of diving on the marine environment.
Science of Diving Deepen your understanding of the science behind diving: physics, physiology and more.

Specialties can in many cases be combined with the Open Water Diver or AOWD course. Every specialty counts towards the Master Diver recognition certificate — the highest non-professional SSI certificate.

Worldwide Recognised Certificate

SSI (Scuba Schools International) is one of the largest diving training organisations in the world. Your SSI certificate is recognised worldwide and is equivalent to comparable certificates from other major organisations. SSI focuses on gaining experience and also pays attention to sustainability, the environment and divers with disabilities.

After obtaining your certificate you receive a digital certification in the SSI app — always at hand, anywhere in the world. The online lessons also remain accessible after the course, so you can always refresh your knowledge. Switching to SSI is no problem if you already hold a certificate from another organisation.
