Zoetersbout, Bruinisse
A relatively quiet dive site in the Eastern Scheldt where current is only a limited factor. Varied bottom with plenty of small marine life.
Grevelingenmeer & Eastern Scheldt — the richest diving region in the Netherlands
Zeeland is home to the most beautiful diving waters in north-west Europe: the Grevelingenmeer and the Eastern Scheldt. The Grevelingenmeer is the largest saltwater lake in Europe and is known for its accessibility and rich underwater nature. The Eastern Scheldt is a protected national park — the largest in the Netherlands — with enormous biodiversity.
From Scharendijke, most dive sites are a short drive away. We know these locations like the back of our hand.
The Kerkweg near Den Osse is one of the most popular dive sites of the Grevelingenmeer — and for good reason. The bottom profile is very varied and the rich underwater nature makes every dive an experience. You can spot pipefish, lobsters and crabs, sea dahlias and much more. 100 reef balls at a depth of 7–8 metres form an artificial reef, well colonised with sponges, anemones, sea squirts and tube worms.
The site is easily accessible with an easy entry point. Suitable for beginner and advanced divers.
The Gemaal near Dreischor is a special location accessible to divers of all levels. The structures of the still-operational pumping station are beautifully colonised. You can dive nicely shallow here and encounter a variety of structures. The entry point can be a little slippery, so take care and use the rope that has been placed there for support.
The site is less busy than the Kerkweg, making for a quieter diving experience and sometimes better visibility.
Diving under the longest bridge in the Netherlands is a unique experience. The pillars of the Zeelandbrug are magnificently overgrown and the surrounding area is teeming with all kinds of sea life. From cuttlefish to seahorse, from bass to nudibranch — you can encounter them all at this popular site. In the Eastern Scheldt, currents are a factor — plan your dive carefully.
A location that impresses every diver. Suitable for experienced divers.
Besides our three favourites, we also regularly dive at these locations.
A relatively quiet dive site in the Eastern Scheldt where current is only a limited factor. Varied bottom with plenty of small marine life.
The harbour of Den Osse is an accessible dive site where you can simply walk straight into the water. A good alternative to the Kerkweg. Bear in mind the nearby shipping channel.
A well-known dive site near Dreischor, close to the Gemaal. The Frans Kok reef can surprise you. Just before the entry point you'll find an artificial reef of reef balls.
This dive site has a chair lift on the jetty, making it accessible for divers with limited mobility. Thanks to the nearby sluice gate, you may have some special encounters here.
